Philippine Presidential Communications Office said former president Rodrigo Duterte is under custody in a local police station after arriving in Manila on Tuesday from Hong Kong.

The office said in a statement that it received an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Manila from the International Criminal Court early Tuesday. The ICC has accused Duterte of killings during his crackdown on drugs while in power.

Duterte arrived in the Philippines via Cathay Pacific flight CX 907 from Hong Kong at 9:20 am Tuesday. Upon arrival, the Prosecutor General presented the official ICC notification confirming the arrest warrant for Duterte, according to the Philippine News Agency.
