China urges deeper global cooperation in sci-tech innovation
China has called for deeper global cooperation in science and technology and highlighted rapid advances in humanoid robots ahead of the annual session of its top legislature on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Lou Qinjian, spokesman for the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, said technological innovation requires an open, inclusive and mutually beneficial international ecosystem.
"We are willing to work with all parties to promote the establishment of an open, fair, just and non-discriminatory global environment for technological development, so that the fruits of innovation can benefit more countries and people," he said.
The remarks came as Lou pointed to humanoid robotics as one of the most dynamic frontiers in China's technological push, describing 2025 as a pivotal period for the sector.
"Last year was undoubtedly a key year in which China's homegrown humanoid robotics industry achieved both technological breakthroughs and advances in application scenarios," he added.
Humanoid robots, designed to replicate human perception and movement, integrate frontier technologies including artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and new materials.
Lou said AI development depends on intelligent computing, high-speed data transmission and massive data storage capacity, supported by smart chips, algorithm models and coordinated big data systems.
"However, enabling robots to perceive, think, make decisions and act like humans will require further theoretical advances and sustained global collaboration," he said.
