Sui holds nerve to claim Singapore Ladies Masters

China's Sui Xiang fended off a spirited challenge from the Philippines' Florence Yvon Bisera by closing with a final round one-under-par 73 to win the Moutai Singapore Ladies Masters by one shot on Sunday.

Canadian amateur Shauna Liu (71) shared third place with Indonesia's Holly Victoria Halim (71), while Thailand's Kan Bunnabodee (72) and Kultida Pramphun (75) ended the week tied for fifth together with South Korea's Choi Seo-hyeon (68).

The battle for top honors went down to the final three holes. Playing in the penultimate group ahead of Sui, Bisera reduced the deficit to just one shot with a birdie on the 16th hole.

However, she immediately dropped a shot on the 17th, only for Sui to also bogey the same hole and keep the contest finely poised.

After closing with a par, the Filipino was left to wait at the clubhouse to see if the championship would be extended to a playoff.

Holding a slender one-shot advantage standing on the 18th tee, the 27-year-old Sui composed herself before safely finding the green and two-putting for par to seal victory with a winning total of seven-under 209 at Laguna National Golf Resort Club.

"This is a significant win for me, especially as I have enjoyed playing in Singapore but have not been able to get over the line here before," said Sui.

"I hit a wayward shot that led to a bogey on 17. When I stepped onto the tee at 18, I just told myself to stay focused and avoid any more mistakes. I'm just glad everything worked out in the end.

"This is a win I will savor for a long time."

Bisera mounted a strong challenge after carding a final-round 70, but ultimately fell short, despite applying pressure deep into the back nine.

Despite finishing runner-up, the 24-year-old remained upbeat about her rookie season on the China LPGA Tour.

"I tried my best today, but it was not enough to get across the line. Still, this finish has given me a lot of confidence. I know I can compete at this level, and I will keep improving for the rest of the season," she said.

The Moutai Singapore Ladies Masters, now in its third edition and featured a strong international field of 108 players and a prize purse of $120,000, an increase from previous years.

The event continues to strengthen its position as one of the key stops on the CLPG Tour.

Returning to Laguna National Golf Resort Club, the tournament is the first CLPG Tour event to be staged outside China in 2026.

Featuring many of China's best women's golfers along with promising talent from across Asia, it provided local players, including amateurs, with the opportunity to test themselves against the region's best players.
