Mexico's ambassador: Food weaves bonds between Mexico and China
"We are two countries with very ancient links," said Jesus Seade, Mexico's ambassador to China.
In his view, food is a powerful bond that can bring the people from both countries closer — fostering friendship, unity, and mutual benefit. Many foods that originated in Mexico, including chili peppers, avocados, and chocolate, can now be found in China as well.
Seade recalled walking along a street in Mexico City three or four years ago, searching for Chinese food. Today, several excellent Chinese restaurants have opened there, including restaurants serving Chongqing hotpot that, in his words, taste just as good as those in Chongqing itself.
"We are natural friends. We love China," Seade concluded.
From chili peppers to Chongqing hotpot, from Mexico City to Beijing, let's find out how food tells a story of friendship between China and Mexico!
