This is where Xi Jinping's journey of serving the needs of the people took root. Starting in 1969, Xi spent seven years living and working alongside fellow villagers in Liangjiahe, Shaanxi province, as an educated youth. There, he led them to build Shaanxi's first biogas digester and lit the first biogas lamp on the northern Shaanxi plateau.
