The Yangtze River once again bore witness to passion and grit on Thursday as swimmers cut through its waves in Wuhan, Hubei province.
Shortly after 6 am, locals and tourists lined the riverbank, eagerly awaiting the start of the 51st Wuhan Yangtze River Crossing event.
Among them were gray-haired seniors, children held high on their fathers' shoulders, young people live-streaming with mobile phones, and spectators who had traveled hundreds of kilometers from other cities. Cheers and shouts of encouragement echoed nonstop along the shore.
