EASL announces teams and groupings for 2026-27 season

The East Asia Super League (EASL) has announced the 12-team field and groupings for its 2026-27 season, with clubs from seven countries and regions set to compete from October through February.

The teams have been divided into three groups. The group stage will feature 36 games before the postseason begins in March.

Group A comprises Alvark Tokyo of Japan's B League, Goyang Sono Skygunners of the Korean Basketball League, TSG GhostHawks of Chinese Taipei's P League+ and South Gobi Broncos of Mongolia's MBA The League.

Group B includes South Korea’s Busan KCC Egis and Japan’s Nagasaki Velca, along with Macao champions Macau Hou Chon and Taipei Fubon Braves.

Group C consists of Abra Weavers from the Philippines' Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), Hong Kong Eastern, Ryukyu Golden Kings from Japan and Taoyuan Pauian Pilots from the P League+.

Five teams will make their EASL debuts. Abra Weavers will become the first MPBL team to compete in the regional league, while Macau Hou Chon, Goyang Sono Skygunners and Nagasaki Velca will also make their maiden appearances.

The season will open on Oct 3 at SM Seaside Cebu Arena in Cebu, the Philippines, with Macau Hou Chon facing Taipei Fubon Braves and Abra Weavers taking on Hong Kong Eastern.

The group stage will continue across the region through Feb 5. Among the scheduled matchups, Taoyuan Pauian Pilots will host Ryukyu Golden Kings on Oct 28, before the teams meet again in Okinawa on Jan 20.

Macau Hou Chon will play its first EASL home game on Oct 28 against Nagasaki Velca, while Abra Weavers will host Taoyuan Pauian Pilots in Cebu on Jan 30.

The top teams will advance to the postseason in March, with the EASL champion to be crowned after the knockout stage.
