The second bounce: A life remade by wheelchair tennis
Wheelchair tennis, in which the wheelchair is integrated into the athlete's body, allows players to return the ball after two bounces. After losing her right leg at age two, Wang Ziying found a second chance at life through tennis.
While Zheng Qinwen won China's first-ever Olympic gold medal in tennis singles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Wang Ziying won the wheelchair tennis women's doubles bronze with Guo Luoyao at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, securing China's first Paralympic medal in this event. She later claimed China's first wheelchair tennis singles Grand Slam title at Wimbledon 2025.
In the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games, Wang represents China again. This episode of The Gold highlights her remarkable growth and unwavering determination despite adversity.
