Artist's horse painting features on postage stamp set

To celebrate the Year of the Horse, China Post released a set of three postage stamps featuring Chu Yu Tu, a celebrated work by Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) artist and engineer Ren Renfa, which is housed at the Palace Museum in Beijing. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

Ren Renfa was a hydraulic engineer who overlooked major projects for the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) court he served, but today, he is better known as a great painter celebrated for his meticulous portrayal of horses. Now his works are spread across museum collections, including Chu Yu Tu (Coming out of the Stable), a prominent handscroll painting measuring some 2 meters in length.
