Leaders pool wisdom from lawmakers, political advisers

Senior Chinese leaders joined members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body, on Friday in Beijing for different group discussions during the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee.

The leaders who attended the meetings were Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi and Li Xi, who are all members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

While participating in a joint group meeting with members of the CPPCC National Committee from the economic and agricultural sectors, Li Qiang, who is also Chinese premier, said that given the increasing factors of instability and uncertainty the country faces in its development, it is important to adhere to the principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability and improve the quality and efficiency of the Chinese economy.

He underlined the need to align with the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) to advance the construction of major infrastructure, expand effective investment, rigorously develop the service industry and boost consumption.

It is important to promote transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry, continuously foster and expand new growth drivers, accelerate the large-scale application of new technologies in industry, and solidly advance rural vitalization on all fronts and ensure grain production, he said.

On Friday, Li also took part in a deliberation of the Government Work Report with deputies to the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, from Henan province at the ongoing fourth session of the 14th NPC.

He urged the province to strive for new achievements in building a unified national market, shape new advantages in improving the modern industrial system, explore new paths in promoting a new type of urbanization, and create new highlights in the integrated development of culture and tourism.

Speaking at a joint group meeting attended by members of the CPPCC National Committee from the China National Democratic Construction Association and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Zhao Leji, who is also chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, called on them to pool wisdom and strength to secure a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan, and advance the effective implementation of the Private Economy Promotion Law.

During a group discussion with members of the CPPCC National Committee from the sectors of literature and the arts, and sports, Wang Huning, who is also chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, encouraged them to actively engage in political consultations and contribute their ideas and strengths to the development of cultural and sports undertakings during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

Speaking at a joint group meeting attended by members of the CPPCC National Committee from the China Democratic League, the Communist Youth League of China, the All-China Youth Federation and the All-China Women's Federation, Cai Qi, who is also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, called on them to unwaveringly pursue the path of Chinese modernization under the leadership of the CPC, and leverage their strengths to provide ideas and suggestions on the central tasks of the Party and State.

During a group discussion with members of the CPPCC National Committee from the CPC, Li Xi, who is also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, called on them to establish and practice a correct understanding of governance performance, deliver results for the people through practical actions, and provide their suggestions on the implementation of the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee to gather mighty forces for building a strong nation and realizing national rejuvenation.
