Foreign Minister Wang Yi held two separate phone calls with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Wednesday,
In the conversation with Abdelatty, Wang noted that both the United States and Iran have been sending signals about negotiations, offering a glimmer of hope for peace.
The international community should actively encourage the parties to the conflict to open dialogue, he said, emphasizing that as long as talks continue, there remains hope for peace.
China supports Egypt in continuing its mediation efforts to help resume peace talks and bring an end to the fighting, he said, adding that Beijing stands ready to continue making constructive efforts to that end.
Wang told Fidan that the immediate priority is to actively promote peace and talks, seize every opportunity for peace, and work to bring the fighting to an end.
China supports countries in the region in staying calm and responding to the current crisis rationally, in light of their long-term and fundamental interests, while remaining committed to resolving conflicts and differences through dialogue, he said.
Wang added China also supports Turkiye in playing a constructive role in helping bring talks back on track.
