PLA researcher honored 'Role Model of the Times'

The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on Wednesday honored Wang Ji, a researcher at the College of Computer Science and Technology of the National University of Defense Technology, with the national title of "Role Model of the Times".

Born in Shanghai in 1969, Wang, a member of the CPC, has devoted himself to the frontline of military education and scientific research. As a doctoral supervisor at the college, he has remained committed to the mission of fostering virtue through education and cultivating talent for combat. He has faithfully fulfilled his responsibilities by aligning scientific research with operational needs and applying technological advances to support military missions, according to a Xinhua report.

Wang has led his team in developing a theoretical framework and technological system for high-confidence software, making significant contributions to ensuring the security and reliability of critical software used in major equipment systems, the report said.

Despite suffering from a serious illness and undergoing a high-level amputation, Wang has remained dedicated to his work with remarkable perseverance and optimism. He has continued to conduct research and make technological breakthroughs, achieving a number of innovative results that have reached internationally advanced levels, while training a group of key professionals in high-confidence software technology.

In its decision to confer the national title of "Role Model of the Times" on Wang, the department described him as an outstanding representative of military educators and science and technology workers in the new era. It said his deeds demonstrate the political character and fine traditions of the People's Liberation Army, as well as the dedication of military educators and researchers who strive to cultivate talent, pursue scientific breakthroughs, and contribute to national development. His story also highlights the fighting spirit of the CPC members in the new era, who dedicate themselves to the cause of the Party and the people and strive tirelessly throughout their lives, the decision said.
